A focused approach to OSINT & Online Research
Online material can be easy to find and difficult to interpret. Accounts may use aliases, images may be reposted, and an apparent connection may be coincidental. ISI evaluates public information against the specific question and records enough context to support later review.
What the investigation can include
Research may examine public websites, business profiles, news coverage, open social posts, and other accessible sources. Investigators record URLs, access dates, visible context, and identity considerations while comparing relevant information across sources.
Clear, documented findings
Deliverables identify what was observed, where it appeared, and why it may matter. Identity matches and timeline inferences are qualified, and preserved material is organized with its source information.
What to prepare before we speak
Provide known names, usernames, websites, relevant dates, and the legitimate purpose of the inquiry. Preserve any existing material before a page changes or is removed.
Scope and practical limits
Open-source research does not authorize account intrusion, impersonation, or access to private content. Online findings often require independent corroboration.
